As an indispensable public collector of the cultural and community life of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County and Miskolc City of County Rank, the II. Ferenc Rákóczi Library earned the title of Qualified Library for the second time this year after 2017. Our institution can hold the title awarded through the application for 5 years.
The award was received on 20 January by Gábor Varga, Director and Ágnes Tumikné Csurák, Head of Department, Máté Vincze, Deputy State Secretary for Public Collections and Cultural Development, and Dr László Szende, Head of Public Collections at the ceremony held in the National Széchényi Library. The call was first launched in 2010, and since then 78 Qualified Library titles and 11 Library Quality Awards have been awarded to 63 different institutions. The II. Ferenc Rákóczi Library won the title in 2017 and held it until 2022. The library submitted an application again last year, and the good news has just arrived that it has earned the title again. It was said that the institution maintains significant social relations and pays special attention to meeting the needs of library users at the county's headquarters. It motivates its employees to work in a team and employs an effective knowledge management system, thus contributing to the strengthening of competences and creativity necessary for the continuous development of quality services.
The title of Qualified Library may be awarded to a public library which organises its high-quality professional work taking into account both the enforcement of the right to use the library and the results of the satisfaction of library users. The title is valid for five years and can be awarded several times by submitting a new application. The prestigious recognition goes hand in hand with the intellectual appreciation, since the library won half a million forints by winning the title. One of the library's goals is to apply for the Library Quality Award, which can be awarded to libraries holding the valid Qualified Library title by developing and operating model services in the course of their professional work.
